First-Dance Song Suggestions!

We asked musical expert Danny Chaimson for some killer ideas for first-dance songs.

With the holidays over, it’s now time for all of those newly engaged couples to start the planning process. And what blushing bride doesn’t think about the ever-popular first dance?

Well, ladies, we’ve got you covered. We went to Danny Chaimson, a musical expert and founder of The Gold Coast All Stars, a Chicago-based wedding band, to have him offer up some suggestions for his favorite first dance songs.

For the Sentimental Couple: “Home” by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros is a good choice for a couple that’s looking for something a little different and unique. The song has a catchy chorus that is sure to get the crowd singing along.

For the Modern Couple: Who doesn’t love David Gray’s “This Year’s Love”? This song is perfect for the modern couple who wants everyone to know just how in love they are. There won’t be a dry eye in the place! (Check out The Gold Coast All Stars covering this song.)

For the Traditional Couple: Everyone loves Van Morrison, and for the couple looking for the perfect, totally classic first dance song, you can’t beat Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic.”

For the Comedic Couple: Boyz II Men’s 90s hit “I’ll Make Love To You” is the perfect choice to lighten the mood and get the party started!

Happy planning!
