First-rate secondhand gowns offer designer looks at a much lower price

We’ve yet to meet a bride who doesn’t have designer-dress dreams. There’s just so much to love: the endless style possibilities, the amazing fits, the gorgeous fabrics… But the price tags? Yeah, they can be a bit ridiculous. And while we’re all about brides making the most of their big days, if a trip to Vera Wang or Monique Lhuillier sounds more like an exercise in self torture (so much beauty, so outside the budget), we highly recommend you check out online wedding-gown resale shop White Xchange.

The site (an offshoot of Windy City-based bridal salon White Chicago) lists more than 50 gowns a month at anywhere from 30 to 70 percent off their original retail prices. Recent finds: Monique Lhuillier’s Normandie gown (originally $4,920) on sale for $1,900 (!) and Lela Rose’s Orchard dress (originally $4,200) on sale for $2,730. In a word: AMAZING!

Owned by Ursula Guyer and Stacy Senechalle, two women who believe that bridal fashion should never be sacrificed because of budget, White Xchange features gowns from all the big-bridal names (think Vera, Monique, Caroline Herrera and Oscar de la Renta) at a price point that will fit every kind of budget.

Even better, all dresses are pre-qualified and less than three years old, and you can search for a gown by style, designer, silhouette, fabric, neckline, etc. You can also request to be notified if your dream dress becomes available, and White Xchange even offers a side-by-side dress comparison feature and allows you to share your favorites with friends and family.

The site also recently began featuring ‘maids and moms gowns, too, because brides can’t have all the discounted-fashion fun.

  1. Brilliant find.

I’ve only recently gotten engaged to my Prince Charming and am just beginning my search for ‘the dress.’

Hopeful the dress will help inspire the overall feel of our celebration!
