With a name like Lita Asscher (yes, as in the Royal Asscher cut), it’s pretty much guaranteed that diamonds will be the girl’s best friend. As president of Royal Asscher of America and heiress to the world-famous Asscher diamond dynasty, she’s at the forefront of producing jewelry for one of the oldest and most recognizable names in the diamond industry.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to every bride when picking out her rings?
I would begin by advising the bride to set a budget, and then the cut of the diamond is the second most important aspect to consider. The cut of the stone truly pronounces the beauty and excellence of the stone and is a great way to begin the search for the perfect ring.
What trends do you see emerging now?
I have seen men add little details to the engagement ring to make it more unique and personal. Details can include engravings inside the ring. With the Royal Asscher cut diamond you can even inscribe a short message on the diamond like “I Love You” or the date of the engagement. The engagement is about creating a moment that will be remembered and cherished forever.
What is the most memorable engagement ring you’ve ever seen?
One my favorite engagement rings is from our Affinity Collection. It’s a three-row, split shank with a Royal Asscher diamond in the middle of a modern contemporary setting. It’s really stunning as it gives a modern twist to our Royal Asscher Diamond Collection.
What did your mother’s wedding gown look like?
My mother’s wedding gown was truly classic. The dress had a scoop neck and cap sleeves with a very elegant intricate lace that laid over the silk taffeta covering the entire thing.
Were you ever a bridesmaid who had to wear a really awful dress?
Nothing awful yet…
Perfect wedding song?
“At Last” by Etta James and “I Only Have Eyes For You” by The Flamingos
What is the most over-the-top bridal bauble you’ve ever seen?
I’ve seen many over-the-top baubles, but the most over-the-top bridal moment I have seen was a 15-foot-long veil. It was beautiful lace, but I can’t imagine how heavy it must have been!
